Hello Dad

A short film by Neha Lohia

Trailer

A story of presence, loss, and love.

Set against the iconic New York City backdrop, is an intimate exploration of loss, grief, and emotional healing. Sonya, a young woman, deep in her grief, finds herself at a crossroads as she still struggles to navigate life years after her father’s death. As she vents her pain and longs for his presence, the spirit of her father appears beside her—though unseen, his presence helps us process the turbulent emotions. In this raw and unfiltered journey, she experiences the release of her grief, ultimately finding the strength to face the world once again, knowing that her father’s love remains ever-present, even in his absence.

Director Statement:

This is a deeply personal film for me. In its truest sense, “Hello Dad” is a reflection of my own grief and yearning for my father. It is a recognition that no matter how many years pass when grief and memories come up, they hit exactly the same and over a period of time you slowly get more accustomed to live with them but doesn’t mean they dont hurt. The film explores the raw and unspoken bond between a father and daughter, one that transcends the physical world. It’s a story of releasing, healing, and the quiet moments of reconnection that we experience in our hearts, even when the ones we love are no longer with us. The film is a tribute to my own father, his presence, his love, and the strength he continually gives me, even in his absence. – neha lohia
